Volunteer Registration

Are you an enthusiastic, committed individual with a keen interest in population ageing and what impacts the lives of older people?  Apply to be an IFA 15th Global Conference on Ageing volunteer!

 

Shifts

Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum of two 5 hour shifts during the conference:

  • Morning shift 7am – 1pm
  • Afternoon shift 1pm – 7pm

Orientation / Training

All volunteers are required to attend an orientation session which is a great way to learn about the IFA, connect with other volunteers, and better understand the different roles/duties and benefits.

  • Face to face orientation: 1 Bridgepoint Drive, Toronto On. | Thursday, October 8, 2020
  • Face to face orientation: 1 Bridgepoint Drive, Toronto, On. | Thursday, October 15, 2020
  • Webinar orientation: Thursday, October 22, 2020

Roles / Duties

Volunteer roles and duties may include any of the following tasks:

Station Tasks
Pre-Conference
  • Fill conference bags
  • General set up
Information Desk/ Ambassador
  • Provide information to attendees as required at the information desk or designated spots
Greeters
  • Greet delegates as they check into the conference and social events
  • Help to direct traffic and organize high influx of guests at the registration desk (especially on first day)
Registration Desk
  • Manage registration process for all the attendees
    • Give name badge, ribbon (dependent on type) and conference bag
Session Monitors
  • Stationed outside each session room, checking name badges to grant access
  • Usher delegates to empty seats in plenary and concurrent sessions
  • Provide technical support to moderators and presenters during sessions
Speaker Room
  • Assist conference delegates with their presentations
  • Report directly to the AV managers
Team Leaders
  • Create an inspiring team environment with a culture of open communication
  • Delegating tasks to volunteer team
  • Motivate team members
  • Listen to feedback and resolve any issue or conflicts
  • Assist the IFA Secretariat team throughout the conference
  • Support general logistics including set up/take down of materials, information inquiries, tidying spaces

  • Complimentary attendance to a select number of sessions depending on the number of hours volunteered (subject to availability and outside of volunteer hours)

Please Note:

  1. Volunteers should not register for the Conference in addition to registering here. 
  2. After the registration if you are no longer be able to volunteer notice must be given in writing to Ms. Nathalia Wittingham.
  3. Unfortunately, the IFA is not in the position to fund travel and / or accommodation for volunteers.
